The monument entitled: "Denounce" is an obelisk, composed of three blocks of marble hit by projectiles in that town of Banes Municipality, victim of a mercenary attack 40 years ago.
The attack that took place on October 12, 1971, caused the death of two persons, while three other people were hit by bullets causing them severe injuries.
Luis Silva, the author of the work, said that his sculpture symbolizes the atrocities caused by state terrorism, a scourge which has claimed many victims within the Cuban population.
Participating in the inauguration of the obelisk were Olga Salanueva and Magali Llort, wife of René González and mother of Fernando González, respectively, as well as victims of the explosion of a Cubana Airplane in 1976, and some delegates to the international Forum.
The VII edition of the Colloquium started last Wednesday and will be closed today with the final declaration of the meeting, which included plenary sessions, interviews to denounce international terrorist Luis Posada Carriles and cultural and sports activities parallel to the forum.
One of the sessions was dedicated to the testimonies of the relatives of the Cuban Five, as René González, Antonio Guerrero, Ramón Labañino, Gerardo Hernández and Fernando González are known worldwide.
Those antiterrorist fighters were imprisoned in 1998 in the United States, where they were working to avoid acts of terrorism against the Cuban and the U.S. people.
René, the first of the Cuban heroes to complete his sentence, has to remain in the U.S. for three years under "supervised release", while his four comrades face harsh prison sentences of up to two life plus 15 years.
About 300 delegates from 50 countries participate in this colloquium, including U.S. pacifist Cindy Sheehan (who lost her son in the US war against Iraq) and Giustino Di Celmo (father of Fabio, an Italian tourist killed in a terrorist act in a hotel in Havana).
Brenda and Marlene Esquivel, Venezuelan sisters victims of torture by Luis Posada Carriles, as well as members of the International Free the Five Committe and activists of every continent are also present.
