During the farewell ceremony held at the Julio Antonio Mella International Camp of the municipality of Caimito, the 134 members of the solidarity group declared themselves to be in favor of the immediate release of Fernando Gonzalez, Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero and Rene Gonzalez.
Likewise, in the final document issued at the meeting, they condemned the blockade imposed by Washington on the island for more than five decades now.
We ratify the commitment of strengthening the work of solidarity towards the Cuban Revolution and we support the right of the Cuban people to their independence, as well as their determination to advance in the construction of Socialism, said Jorge La
Torre, while reading the declaration.
The meeting was presided over by Elio Gamez, vice-president of the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples; Roberto Rodriguez, director of the Brigade; and Raul Abreu, director of the Camp.
Gamez thanked the members of the contingent for expressing their solidarity with the Cuban people and the Cuban Revolution, and for showing that a better world is possible. (acn).
