On behalf of the Cuban 5, I want to send you our warmest congratulations for being a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom this year. No person is more deserving than you to receive the highest award given to a civilian in your country.
Because I have been incarcerated in California for almost 14 years now I have been able to follow you and your work and I must say that your enduring struggle for justice in so many causes is a tremendous inspiration to me and my 4 brothers on our road to freedom. We are proud that we can say that you have been there for us over all these long years.
There are some in the progressive movement who have been timid about calling publicly for justice in our case, but that has never been you. You have never faltered in your support for the Cuban 5 and our families. We are forever indebted for that and we will always remember how you stood with us with honor and courage.
On this occasion of recognition to you Dolores, we applaud you and send you our love and solidarity.
Hasta La Victoria Siempre,

Dear Dolores Huerta,
We want to extend our congratulations for the Medal of Freedom being granted to you.
Jose Marti, the Father of Cuban independence once said: "freedom is the essence of life"
Your history as a strong woman and mother provides us with the most vivid example of what it is to be free and to love life to its fullest.
We are honored and immensely encouraged to know that your support in the struggle for our freedom is part of your long life of action and contributions in favor of justice and dignity.
There are no words to describe the satisfaction we feel seeing your photo with the oil portrait that we sent to you with so much love.
Receive five embraces with infinite love and gratitude for your support, from us and our families.
We wish you good health.
