Diaz-Canel, who is in Paris to attend the 46th UNESCO General Conference, also told the members of the friendship organization about the situation of the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters, four of whom are imprisoned in the US since 1998 and the fifth one, Rene Gonzalez, was not allowed to return to his homeland after having served an unfair sentence of 15 years in jail.
According to Granma newspaper, Diaz-Canel was accompanied in the meeting by Cuban ambassador to France Orlando Requeijo Gual, who made emphasis in the active participation of the Cuban people in the most recent transformations implemented in the island.
The encounter was attended by the Major of Issy-les Moulineaux, Deputy Andre Santini, as special guest, and former French ministers, deputies and businesspersons.
The France-Cuba Communication Circle’s gathering takes place three times a year since 2006, and brings together half a hundred French journalists and politicians interested in increasing their knowledge about Cuba, its culture, music and development.
