This January 6 at 8.30am, Gema Hernández Pérez, daughter of Gerardo Hernández Nordelo and Adriana Pérez O'Connor, was born in Havana, the fruit of the love of a couple who survived 16 years of separation and unjust imprisonment, according to Cubadebate.
Gema was born by caesarean section and weighed 7 pounds and 1 ounce. According to what Gerardo told Alicia Jrapko and Bill Hackwell, faithful friends from the United States who during the long years of separation were close to the couple. The baby is beautiful and Gerardo himself took the first photos which will be later published, once the parents are ready to share their extraordinary happiness, the best possible gift after 16 years of unjust separation, with the world.
The Hero of the Republic of Cuba expressed in recent days that solidarity and love had helped make the pregnancy possible, and the dream of his daughter Gema a reality, as testimony to the durability of the love between himself and Adriana.
He said that with every token of love they receive from the Cuban people, the gratitude of the Five towards the sisters and brothers who supported them during 16 years of unjust imprisonment in the U.S. is multiplied.
