The main media outlets highlighted the UN vote where 186 countries demanded an end to the US hostile policy against Cuba: a UN member nation and one of the founders of the world body.
Although the US press has attempted to silence the outcome of the historic vote, the people in the US and world know about the multiple condemnation at UN headquarters in New York against the inhuman and immoral US measure.
Almost 30 countries spoke at the UN podium and all were unanimous in condemning a policy that has provoked loses to the island for over 950 billion dollars.
They criticized the genocidal and extraterritorial character of the US unilateral policy and pointed out that it’s time for Washington to listen to the international community.
The Venezuelan ambassador before the UN, Jorge Valero said that the aggressions against Cuba has dramatic impacts on the daily lives of the Cuban people and represents a flagrant violation of human rights against a sovereign nation.
The representative of the Southern Common Market, MERCOSUR, Uruguayan Jose Luis Cancela characterized the blockade as obsolete and regretted the fact that Washington´s attitude continues without any modifications and impedes direct dialog between Washington and Havana.
On its part, the Mexican representative insisted that the Cuban people deserves respect and believes that the almost absolute condemnation to the blockade is enough reason for the US government to desist in its failed
policy against the island.
The outcome of the vote demonstrates once again that Cuba is not alone and there are many that accompany the island in its struggle for recognition to its right of self determination.
The new UN condemnation to the US economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba, as many say, is humanity´s victory in face of genocidal policies applied by the US against other nations.
