Our 22nd Friendshipment Caravan to Cuba is on the road -- and it may be our most important caravan ever.
This holiday weekend saw two successful crossings from Québec and British Columbia, Canada into the US, with dedicated Canadian caravanistas carrying humanitarian aid for Cuba. In Québec the mood was joyous as the Canadian and Québecois press turned up in large numbers to cover the successful crossing. But in British Columbia our supporters had to be more determined, because US border officials claimed the aid was actually goods for commercial use, and could not pass. Thanks to the pressure of the Pastors for Peace attorney and the increasingly vociferous protest of the caravanistas and their supporters, US border authorities reversed their decision, and let the aid through!
For nearly 20 years the international Pastors for Peace Friendshipment Caravan to Cuba has defied such intimidation and harassment to challenge US foreign policy toward Cuba, and has successfully delivered thousands of tons of humanitarian aid across North American borders to Cuba. The Obama administration has made some small changes in US-Cuba policy, but they are not nearly enough. We want to see a complete end to the US economic blockade – because it punishes the Cuban people every day.
That is why we keep on organizing this massive national and international solidarity project, which connects communities of faith and conviction from more than 130 cities in 45 US states and all three North American nations.

Ramsey Clark, a former US Attorney General, gave a moving account of the lessons he learned working alongside Lucius:
“He was never deterred in his quiet, gentle, and irresistible manner, to overcome the resistance to love on the planet, but to spread it among all people. And to carry that flag is our responsibility. With every adversity that he encountered, it only caused him to redouble his efforts, and his efforts were first focused on what can really change the world. For those who knew him best, now is the time as never before”.
Our ongoing work is only possible because of the generosity of friends like you. Stand with us as we take Rev. Lucius Walker's legacy forward. We are always grateful for your support and solidarity!
