Havana, Cuba, June 15.- In a meeting in solidarity with the island, the Canada-Cuba Friendship Association of the Niagara region carried a giant banner for the release of the Five Cuban heroes unfairly incarcerated in the US for almost 13 years now.

The work in support of the release of the Cuban Heroes (Rene Gonzalez, Gerardo Hernandez, Antonio Guerrero, Ramon Labañino and Fernando Gonzalez) was one of the main topics participants dealt with during the meeting, called Barbecue with Cuban Flavor.

Consul Raul Delgado and members of the Friendship Association of the city of Windsor, Wayne Redekop, former mayor of Fort Erie and member of the New Democratic Party, as well as other members of the community, were among participants, the www.cubaminrex.cu Web site reported.

Members of these organizations spoke about their recent participation in the May Day celebrations held in Cuba, and focused on the Association’s activities carried out so far and announced those planned for the next few months.

The documentary "The Route of Terror", from the series Cuba’s Reasons, which shows terrorist activities in Miami against Cuban targets, was screened at the Armenian Cultural Association in Argentina.

At the end of the showing, members of the Argentinean Committee for the Release of The Five stated the conditions Gerardo, Ramon, Antonio, Fernando and Rene are presently in, their unjust imprisonment, the illegalities and irregularities of their trial, and the reasons leading to demand their immediate release.

They also showed how the Miami mafias, the activities of which The Five were monitoring, act at the service of the CIA and against all Latin American peoples seeking to free themselves from the empire, which turns the cause of their release into a real world clamor.

During the meeting, participants signed the forms of the international campaign called “One million signatures for The Five.”  (acn).
