Adriana Perez was warmly welcomed yesterday night by supportive Peruvians, mostly young, and Cuban ambassador Juana Martinez, at the "Jorge Chavez" International Airport in Lima.
In brief remarks to Prensa Latina, Adriana Perez was surprised and honored for the welcome, and encouraged by the Cuban flags and posters with photos of the Five, as they are universally known for fighting terrorism.
Adriana Perez came here along with Ileana Alonso. Ileana's father was one of the victims of the mid-flight sabotage of a Cuban airliner over Barbados in 1976.
The visitors will hold meetings with Peruvian authorities and figures, and interviews with media.
They were invited to attend the 13th Peruvian Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, which among its main issues is the solidarity with the Cuban Five, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez, Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino and Rene Gonzalez.
Adriana Perez is the wife of Rene Gonzalez, sentenced in 2001 to double life sentences plus 15 years in prison, the most extreme of unjust convictions against them.
The 13th Peruvian Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba will be held next weekend in the city of Chiclayo, 780 kilometers north of Lima, where Adriana and Ileana will travel on Friday.
After the meeting, Perez will continue her visit in Lima and later, she will travel to La Paz. (Prensa Latina)
